IBC-night one and the Welshman

Yup, that’s right, we are covering the nights of IBC because its a bit more interesting than what’s going on at IBC except that everyone is in a great mood and there seem to be a lot of jolly people at the show. Nothing mind blowing, they still seem to be saying the same stuff as before. (Big companies trying to act small) , maybe its because there aren’t that many innovative start ups here like at GSM, but its interesting to watch everyone saddle up to the big brands here.

Alas, I digress, this was not my intended topic, it was the first night of IBC in search of the 10 “easy on the eye” men of IBC. It does take more than a pretty face however to convince us ink girls to stay all night at one “weird” party by the grand dame of PR of IBC, Jan Dixon- but the men of Perspective Publishing and the amazingly brilliant and charming and James Spader look-alike (how nice is that!) Ben Reneker from Jupiter-Kagan ( we know it has a new name but we like this one better) kept us entertained for the whole evening and into the next. From parallel universes, michael jackson’s best song, grafetti as art and the nut heirarchy, it was an unforgettable night.

Where to start? Well, in addition to Ben, there is the editor of Cable and Satellite international, Goran, who made the first list in early 2007 so that speaks for itself. Then there was Neal, a veritable rock and roll Shakespearean one man show of ongoing commentary, wit and perfect sarcasm coupled with the best hair we have seen in long time. And then there was the Welshman. Not only is this Rugby loving, house husband wanna-be one of the funniest men we have met, but he also packs a smile that will make you forget how to make a sentence.

Competition is stiff this year and it was only night one.
